Foot Care Professionals: The Overlooked Occupational Risks
Foot care professionals are exposed to several significant occupational hazards, including musculoskeletal disorders, respiratory risks related to nail and keratin dust, and infectious risks associated with blood exposure and contaminated instruments. Additional concerns include contact allergies, eye strain, occupational stress, noise exposure, and hand-arm vibration syndrome. Effective prevention relies on proper ergonomics, high-quality equipment (adjustable patient chair, drill with suction, magnifying lighting), strict hygiene and sterilization protocols, as well as a work organization that promotes regular breaks and reduces physical and psychological strain.
